How to add IMAP Email Account to Outlook on Android

Important Prerequisites

Before proceeding with the IMAP email account setup on Outlook for Android, ensure you have the following information from your email administrator:

  1. Username: Your full email address (e.g., yourname@yourdomain.com).
  2. Password: The password for your email account.
  3. Incoming Mail Server (IMAP):
    • Server: Obtain the IMAP server address from your email administrator.
    • Port: 993 for IMAP over SSL
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS
  4. Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
    • Server: Obtain the SMTP server address from your email administrator.
    • Port: 465 for SMTP over SSL
    • Encryption: SSL/TLS
    • Authentication: Required (same username and password as the incoming server)

Ensure that you have this information readily available before starting the setup process. Contact your company IT email administrator if you need assistance in obtaining these details.

  1. Download & Install Outlook:

    • Open the Google Play Store and search for Microsoft Outlook.
    • Tap Install and then Open.

  2. Get Started:

    • Open Outlook and tap Get Started.

  3. Enter Email Address:

    • Enter your email address and tap Continue.

  4. Change Account Provider:

    • Tap the ? mark in the top right corner and select Change account provider.
    • Choose IMAP.

  5. Enter Account Credentials:

    • Enter your email password, display name, and account name.
    • Enable advanced settings.

  6. IMAP Server Settings:

    • Incoming server: Obtain the IMAP server address from your email administrator.
    • Username: your email address
    • Password: your email password

  7. SMTP Server Settings:

    • Outgoing server: Obtain the SMTP server address from your email administrator.
    • Username: your email address
    • Password: your email password
    • Tap the ✔ mark to finish.

  8. Completion:

    • If settings are correct, you will see a confirmation screen.
    • Tap Maybe Later to proceed to your inbox or Add to include another account.
